About Stanilaus
Stanislaus County is located in California, not far from the San Francisco Bay. Many people live in this area due to the lower prices of housing and then commute to San Francisco for work. It is also part of the Modesto metropolis area. The culture of this area dates back to the early 1800’s. It was named after a native Indian Chief Estanislao who led the fight against the Mexican troops.
This area was one of five land grants that took place between 1843 and 1846. The total of these land grants was 113,135 acres. With a name like this, the location is often mispronounced. In fact, there continues to be a great deal of debate about the correct way to say it. Some pronounce it with the s sound at the end, and others go back to the roots of the language so there is a w sound at the end.
The environment around Stanislaus County is very open and lovely. Many enjoy living here because they can get away from the city and enjoy being part of nature. Plenty of rare types of flora and fauna have also been identified in this area. Due to the uniqueness and diversity of what is offered here, many are involved with ensuring their environment is well protected.
The North flow of the San Joaquin River separates parts of the economic and social environments of Stanislaus County. On the west side you will find the most prosperous areas of the location. It has remained a rural environment even after all of the time that has past. The economy here is highly dependent on the agricultural efforts in that western location.
Elements of Stanislaus County are very close to Interstate 5 and the California Aqueduct. These locations have seen a great deal of growth due to the commuters that live here and then go work in San Francisco. Many of them are considered to be one bedroom communities with tall apartment buildings very close to each other.
There are various forms of public transportation offered in Stanislaus County. They include buses and small trains. They also have Greyhound bus locations and Amtrak for commuters to have a main stop to get on and off those forms of transportation. There is also a major airport in Modesto.
Stanislaus County continues to be an attractive location for people that want to live in a great part of California. The population continues to grow annually. There is plenty to see and do around this location. It is also not too far of a commute to larger cities for work or for seeking out various types of adventures.
The population as of the 2010 census was 514,453. Approximately 65% of the population is white, approximately 3% is black, about 1% is Indian, 5% are Asian, and 26% of the population is Hispanic.
